The Dog Days Are Over

Now it’s time to say goodbye to all our company…

After six and a half years of happy, joyous, rewarding, unnecessarily stressful, and OCD-inducing employment at the house of mouse down in sunny (and blazing hot) Orlando, Florida, my days as a WDW cast member officially came to an end last weekend. A new company-wide requirement for seasonal folk, like myself, made it virtually impossible to continue working/playing at the happiest place on earth in that capacity so, sadly, I’ve had to hang up my mouse ears.

It’s been quite a memorable ride—from running around the parks, coloring with kids, and riding roller coasters with my favorite puppy, to cruising on the back of a car in a parade with one cool toy and dining with the saddest donkey the literary world has ever seen—and I’m truly going to miss it. The number of family memories, photos, and videos I’ve been fortunate enough to have been a part of is absolutely mind-boggling and makes my head spin just thinking about it. Bringing these characters to life over the last six and a half years has been great fun and seeing all the smiles (and tears, for better or worse) on the faces of kids of all ages was what truly made this role one I’ve been so happy and privileged to have done.

As the big cheese himself once said (the man; not the mouse), “We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.” In January 2006, I took a risk and opened a new door that has had a significant impact on where and who I am today, and even though that door has now closed, I know a new door yet to be opened is out on the horizon somewhere. Thanks for the memories, pals.
